As its name suggests, before it was a hotel, it was a castle. In 1923, the Prince of Sweden, visiting the region, discovered the village on the mountainside. He succumbed to its charm and decided to buy a plot of land and all the dwellings it housed to make it his home: the Château d’Eza (Eza is the Italian name for the village). The prince had to part with it, and the place went through a number of ups and downs.
It was bought back and transformed into a hotel. Today, it houses 12 rooms in pretty little cottages. Lovers of distinctive atmospheres will appreciate the medieval suite with its old stonework. Each room is air-conditioned and has satellite TV, a DVD player and Wi-Fi access. The decor, inspired by the Louis XIII style, is warm and chic. Beautiful terraces offer a unique view of the surrounding area, particularly the bay and the Mediterranean that stretch out at the foot of the village. Staying here gives you the impression of being out of this world, in a luxurious nest.
The site has thought of everything. It offers guests a 1-star restaurant, run by chef Axel Wagner since 2007. You’ll be able to treat yourself to inspired, fresh and light Provencal cuisine. Enjoy surprising artichoke muffins, an upside-down veal tart or a lavender-frosted carré.

Getting to Eza Castle
Èze is easy to reach from all the coastal towns on the Riviera. The hotel is located on rue de la Pise. If you wish to return to your accommodation from Nice airport, it will take you around half an hour by car. The hotel reception is located in the stables, a few minutes from the entrance to the village. You can take the freeway, or prefer to stroll along the seafront before climbing to the heights. Or you can simply drive to Èze from Marseille or any other French or Italian city.
You can then book a cab to take you to the Château, or book a private chauffeur service for even greater comfort.
